The Central American Refugee Committee of the East Bay (CRECE) is a grassroots organization, whose mission is to organize and educate the Latino immigrant community to improve its social, economic and cultural conditions.
The majority of the CRECE community members are immigrants; refugees and families from El Salvador who fled the war, oppressive conditions and the deep economic depression that followed. For this reason, CRECE members make annual visits to El Salvador to bring resources to the most impoverished rural communities of El Salvador.
